I used to beย really insecure about my skin,ย to the point that I developed a fear of looking into the mirror. I started experiencing hormonal acne right after high school - it was physically painful, but the pain was nothing compared to theย emotional and psychological sufferingย I went through. I cancelled plans, cried a lot, and wanted to be alone all the time. I was terrified of looking at other people in the eye, afraid of what they would say next about my skin.

It took me years before I could feel comfortable in my own skin. I understand if you ever wished you were better, prettier or just a little more perfect so all your worries will go away. But, my love,ย there is no such thing as perfection in this world.ย Society and social media has done a cruel job of setting unrealistic expectations of beauty. Itโ€™s always the next celebrity trend, new fashion craze or must-try beauty regime thatย leaves us feeling like weโ€™re not enough.

The truth is:ย We're always thinking of being something / somebody else before we think of being ourselves.

โ€œWhen I have clear skin", "When I get my beach body", "When I have my makeup on"...

Iโ€™m here to say itโ€™s okay to have flaws, itโ€™s okay to feel whatever it is youโ€™re feeling, but donโ€™t spend all your days hiding away only because you donโ€™t love this version of yourself.ย Please remember that the way you are is good enough. Right here. Right now. Today.
